I blogged regularly from 2006-2010. Then, as my health began to unravel, faster and faster, like a ball of yarn rolling down a staircase, my posts stopped. My life became a series of doctors appointments, tests, and periods of short-term disability. I could no longer share my life publicly; it would jeopardize the career I was trying so desperately to maintain. I deleted my blog. I felt cut off and so terribly alone.
In February of 2013, my employment ended as I entered long-term disability. I’ve spent months wrestling with the idea of blogging again. I read articles by lawyers cautioning against too much online activity. They say insurance companies can use it as supposed proof you can work, cause to cancel your disability. Or what about if (when) I get better? Does this jeopardize my chances of future employment?
I finally decided to stop living in fear. I signed up for a class called Blogging From the Heart. And for the first time in months, I feel like I have a purpose.
Through my words and photos, I will chronicle my quest to create health, happiness, and hope in a life challenged by chronic pain so others like me will know they’re not alone, be encouraged, and leave feeling uplifted.
I feel as though I’m on a quest right now … a search to find those things which will allow me to retake my health, my confidence, and my life.
Welcome to my journey.
