Journaling

I know these photos practically shriek “it was the 70s!” but c’mon … could my Mom and Dad get any cuter? Just look at them rock those wide lapels and Mom in that turtleneck and Dad with his wide-open collar like John Travolta … it was well into the late 1980s before we managed to wrestle Dad’s last pair of bellbottoms away from him and out of his closet, he loved them so. But these photos make me shake my head in wonder, looking at their barely 20’s faces. They were so young, and had no idea what life had in store for them: two children, countless moves, numerous deployments, a war … my teenage years … and now six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with a seventh on the way. They marked 50 years of marriage this summer and are still going strong. And seriously, look at them – who would have ever imagined they’d turn into the very best Santa and Mrs. Claus???
